I'm always on the search for information regarding dental hygiene, particularly when it involves electric toothbrushes. I've heard different opinions from dentists over the use of an electric toothbrush versus a manual toothbrush, as I am sure you have, so I thought I would do some searching and see what I could discover.
The first thing I came across was this article from the Mayo Clinic titled Is an electric toothbrush better than a manual toothbrush? in their question and answer section. There were two big things that I took away from this: First, you can brush just as effectively with a manual toothbrush as with an electric toothbrush and second, if you have any conditions, such as arthritis, that make it difficult to brush your teeth then an electric toothbrush can be a big help.
Playing devil's advocate with myself here, if you can brush just as well with a manual toothbrush as you can with an electric toothbrush, why do so many dentists push electric toothbrushes? Why am I pushing electric toothbrushes?
